Lexington at Home

We are an inclusive support network that enriches the lives of independent Lexington Seniors by:

Creating opportunities to socialize

Lending one another a helping hand in a pinch

Sharing our collective knowledge of available resources

“Staying in touch with other chapter members while isolated during the pandemic has really been a great outlet. I look forward to resuming our in-person gatherings.”
“Knowing that I can call on others in the group for a helping hand is very reassuring.”
“The breadth of knowledge among our members has enabled me to locate very useful resources I didn’t even know existed.”

Lexington at Home grew out of casual discussions among a small group of friends about the realities of aging. The group recognized that many close friends were moving away or becoming ill; in addition, family members lived far away and led busy lives. If the friends wanted to stay in their homes or the general community, who would be there to rely on as they aged?

What was needed was a way to build new peer groups, as they did when they were younger, that would form a support network based on friendship and responsive to their changing needs.

Lexington at Home is an all-volunteer organization, with no paid staff, that has grown to about 150 members. We plan social activities to create a feeling of community and avoid isolation, provide resource information and help in a pinch to help one another continue to live independently.
